Plymouth born but Newcastle based
singer-songwriter Nick Gladdish has been busy over lockdown and put together a
new EP with this single being the first release from that collection. ‘Freeze’
has an initial lightness to it and there are temptations to draw parallels with
the likes of Paul McCartney and Paul Heaton in terms of song writing. However,
as with a lot of Gladdish’s output there is underlying sadness that is played
out through his resigned vocal and the wistful lyrics. The full band backing
for the song gives it a punch as the melodies meander through the song without
any particular urgency or stress.
