The word immersive gets bandied around
a lot in relation to music but this whole experience presented by Nanna Bech is
the very definition of the word. The Danish singer-songwriter has crafted ‘Traffic
Light’ out of the finest piano notes, a fragile and emotive voice and soothing
strings that bind each wound on your heart. There are hints of Feist and Regian
Spektor but this is an altogether more theatrical or cinematic affair. The
video which accompanies the beautiful music is also stunning – filmed in the
basement of an abandoned hospital with synchronised swimmers out of water and a
string quartet in swimming caps. The whole thing is beautiful and finely crated
sensory experience which, in this current world of grey monotony, is something
we should hang on to with both hands.
