Northampton’s Amii Dawes got in
touch with her new single ‘In My Sleep’ and I am delighted to be able to share
it with you. A forlorn piano melody is matched by Dawes’ emotive and fragile voice
singing out over those doleful notes, setting the tone beautifully. At some
points it sounds like a more soulful version of Kate Nash sampling a Beatles
melody to create a subtle and beautiful new blend. As the repeated lyric “Lonely
is just where I wanna be” drifts into your subconscious both comforting and
disturbing your soul.
