Records, the new single from Vanessa Anne Redd is sold as a joyful rock stomper
and that is pretty much bang on the money. ‘Dark Minds’, however, starts
duskily and moodily with a PJ Harvey tone as the bass, drums and guitar jostle
awkwardly in the corner waiting for the signal. And it comes. The grunge energy
surges through in the chorus and there’s an almost religious vibe to the vocal harmonies
which makes this a positively uplifting experience laced with icy cool style.
