Sunny Bones – Be Cool

I honestly thought this duo were
from Vegas based on the press photo but it turns out that Sunny Bones hail from
equally glamorous Norfolk and as there debut release is called ‘Be Cool’ it
would be rude not to dive straight in, wouldn’t it? Slide guitar and a gentle
melody are not what I expected from a duo who look like they got hastily dressed
in a charity shop around the corner from a recently closed down casino. Nevertheless,
Sunny Bones offer charm, comfort, wit and humour in a way that only British
artists can and I’m left wondering if this is what the Beautiful South would
have sounded like if they’d spent more time touring the American mid-west in
the early part of their career. Gorgeous vocals, effortless melodies and a real
sense of natural ease – not bad for a first release.
