Being a singer-songwriter from a Faroese/Canadian
background gives you a certain niche quality but Lena Anderssen isn’t relying
on that gimmick. Oh no. Anderssen’s new single ‘Aimee’ is an upbeat and perky
indie-pop tune but there is an underlying sadness to the lyrics and vocals
which gives this depth and balance. There are elements of KD Lang, Sheryl Crow,
KT Tunstall and Fleetwood Mac about the composition as well as creating mental
images of broad vistas, sweeping scenery and dramatic cloudscapes. It’s good
for what ails you, whatever that may be.
