If, like me, you haven’t come
across John Swale and the Missing Pieces before then prepare yourself for this
is something a little different. ‘Party Like it’s 2019’ starts like a lo-fi pop
soundtrack to an apocalypse movie but soon emerges into something that sounds
like Collapsed Lung doing an end of year review – and that’s no bad thing.
Riling against everything we’ve been denied in 2020 and everything we miss about
the socialisation of partying, Swale delivers his performance poetry to a dance
beat and I’m not sure if I love it or hate it for reminding me what we’ve
missed out on this year. It’s a bloody good round up of the year though, at the
very least.
