This is the second single release
from Grace Bland that I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing and ‘She Kinda Looks Like
Me’ shows real progression from the UK based artist. Moody keys and guitars
open proceedings before Bland’s soulful voice joins in with a bit of edge and
bite to it – a la Amy Winehouse but with an airier tone. There’s a 50s vibe to
the melodies but as played through the static of a time travelling radio and
such is the heartache you can almost hear the rain pitter-pattering down the windowpane.
Glamourous, engaging and classically modern – perfect pop, in my opinion.
