dwelling songstress Lauran Hibberd is back with another tune from her base on
the Isle of Wight. Hibberd’s new single ‘Boy Bye’ starts with a plodding West Coast
melody and rhythm that is in keeping with her previous Weezer influences but,
as always, there is a freshness here. The choruses are pleasingly big with Veruca
Salt guitars that sear through the melody like a hot knife through a giant
marshmallow and Hibberd’s bitter-sweet vocals giving the song that edge that
makes her songwriting such an appealing and engaging prospect.
