Kama Vardi hails from Tel Aviv
but her cover of Nico’s ‘These Days’ is otherworldly in it’s simple and pure
delight. Vardi’s accent shines through as honestly as the rippling acoustic
guitar notes that waft in on a warm summer’s breeze at the end of the season
and the leaves start to turn a golden brown. This is a soothing and stunning
homage to the original but Vardi’s voice and guitar playing more than stands up
to the legend that is Nico. Oh, and there’s a video with a cat in it which is,
well, let’s just say it gets bonus points in my book.
