Bristol collective Erotic Secrets
of Pompeii have put themselves well in the running for band name of the year,
but they are no one trick ponies as new single ‘Rorschach Rorschach’ proves. The
rumbling bass and pounding drums arrive ominously over the horizon like a Harley-Davidson
made of fire and brimstone, ridden by the devil himself. Sinister piano notes
and strangled guitar notes join in and there are desperate vocals sung from the
corner of a lounge bar in limbo that looks a lot like Atlantic City. Or
Swindon. If, like me, you are fans of the excellent Narcs or Velcro Hooks then
this will be right up your street. It’s so far up my street that my door is
starting to open slowly which is both terrifying and exhilarating in equal measure.
