The Wordsmen – Spilt

Exeter band the Wordsmen are
brand new on the block with only 10 months of life in them but that doesn’t
mean they haven’t been busy. The first fruits of their activity is new single ‘Spilt’
which opens up on a forlornly scratchy guitar riff before the vocals and drums
join in and the idea comes together. There are hints of the Velvet Underground
and elements of early U2 but the best thing about this release is the sound of
a young, raw band making their first steps out in to the world armed with
nothing but some instruments, some ideas and a whole lot of passion.
