PHANTOM ISLE – SINGLE REVIEW

Phantom Isle – MAR V

Release Date: Out Now

I really had no expectations of this track from London based collective Phantom Isle but there’s an instantly infectious groove and rapport that kicks in from the get-go which is impossible to resist and things only get better from there. Agitated binks and bleeps introduced ‘MAR V’ and then a beat gets your head bobbing with a bass groove joining in to create the kind of atmosphere that most red blooded folk would kill to be swept up in right now. When the song finally erupts it is an orgy of electro-pop-funk with the heaving naked bodies of Soulwax, LCD Soundsystem, Transformer, Goose and Simian Mobile Disco all covered in a blend of lube and glitter under a steadily pulsing strobe light being controlled by Daft Punk and Giorgio Moroder. This is sexy, sexy music and I think we all need some of this decadence in our lives right now.
