You can say what you like about
Alanis Morissette but she is consistently true to herself and her sense of
truth. The Canadian superstar’s new single is a typically impassioned affair with
dramatic, rolling piano notes being nudged along by a steady and almost military
beat to allow Morissette’s trademark vocals to speak their message and speak
they do. This has the same level of production as something theatrical or cinematic
with the addition of sweeping strings and more snow sprinkled piano notes
adding to the complex but carefully arranged layers. The new album comes out at
the end of July and this certainly bodes well.
