Excellently named Brighton outfit
Rise of the Ziggurat have birthed new single ‘This Is War’ into the world and,
honestly, I’m not sure where to start. Musically, this is a doomy, 80s inspired
synth odyssey with hints of the Human League or Gary Numan in the methodical melody.
However, vocally this is more 90s as the likes of St Etienne and Dubstar weave
into the mix for dramatic effect. As the song reaches its processed beats
crescendo you are left in no doubt that these guys mean business but I’m still
not quite sure what that business is which is a very good thing indeed.
