Go are joining the lockdown party with their new single ‘All Together Now’ and it’s
a pretty moving experience. Recorded in the band member’s four respective
homes, we start with a single and suitably lonely vocal singing “It’s all still
the same, everything’s untouched but forever changed” followed by tambourine,
hand claps and a forlorn guitar line. As the layers build up and the various zoom
windows open showing the band members performing in kitchens, home studios and
closets you get the real sense of a group of friends coming together from their
bunkers to create something unifying. And as horrible as this lockdown is, the
line “Everyone alone altogether on the precipice” is a thing of beauty.
