I love this song but I hate that it needs to exist. “It’s
hard to sleep these days, the sound of all the screams keep me awake” is the
opening lyric to a track that outlines everything that is going wrong in the
world (particularly America) right now, in 2020. ‘Love is Gone’ is not a break up
song but a break down song – the break down of society, the break down of unity
and the break down of trust in the systems in place. Guest MC Jahmed doesn’t pull
any punches and the chant of “Black Lives Matter” at the end of the track
brings everything home. The video is also powerful but I wish it had been dramatized
rather than documented.
