I’m glad to see Jake Bugg making
a return to the scene with new single ‘Saviours of the City’ and it’s a strong
return at that. A gentle, rolling acoustic melody is picked out before Bugg’s
distinctive vocal humbly emerges from the shadows, blinking in the daylight. It
doesn’t get much more complex than that, but the sense of calm and solitude is
overwhelming in an entirely welcome manner. The accompanying visualiser is an
excellent piece of work, especially considering it was made during lockdown.
