Ben Harper – Don’t Let Me Disappear

I really enjoyed Ben Harper’s
work with Mavis Staples in 2019 but it’s great to see him back standing on his
own two feet again. Harper’s new single ‘Don’t Let Me Disappear’ has a gentle
and soothing feel to the finger picked acoustic notes and Harper’s voice is
perfectly pitched to match this mood with soul and pathos in ample supply. The
themes of isolation and loneliness are timely at a time when so many of us are
finding it hard to relate to ourselves without the context of others but there’s
hope in the chorus. Harper does that thing of turning a soulful lament in to an
angsty burst of energy that shatters the windows so that you can smell the
fresh air around you. Great to have you back, Mr Harper.
