SVVIM – EP REVIEW

SVVIM – One Shot Romance EP
SVVIM - One Shot Romance EP

Release Date: Out Now

The artist formerly known as Lonely Eddie has emerged, butterfly-like, from a chrysalis under the moniker SVVIM which I’m struggling to pronounce but luckily this blog is in the written form so that’s not my problem. This EP opens with the title track, ‘One Shot Romance’, which builds from a vocoder vocal and piano line into a swooning electro-soul number of high sophistication and deep emotion. On ‘What Have You Done To Me?’, the pace gets cranked up a notch with a kind of X Ambassadors vibe with slick production and shimmering melodies underpinning SVVIM’s classy, smooth vocal.

As the EP progresses, ‘Real Love’ comes next and there’s a more roomy, sparse vibe with the piano vs vocals combination allowing time for a particularly assured and soulful vocal to bear its heart and unfurl one of the most honest love songs I’ve heard in a very long time. SVVIM closes out the EP with ‘I Can Be That Man’ which seals the deal, showing this one-man-band to be a bona-fide soul-pop master with serious chops and a sense of cool about everything he does. Once again Exeter has produced an artist of exceptional quality ready for a much bigger stage and a much wider audience.
