SLAUGH – SINGLE REVIEW

Slaugh – Tears
Slaugh - Tears

Release Date: Out Now

I am genuinely excited to introduce you to Slaugh, aka Themba Mtwazi, a British-Zimbabwean rapper who is based in Nottingham and who has put his PhD in Art, Design and Architecture on hold to bring us this fresh, new sound. ‘Tears’ has a beautifully blended laid-back melody and skittish beat that is held together by the insistent and smooth flow of Slaugh. When we get to the chorus, we are treated to Slaugh’s soulful vocal but don’t be fooled, this is a track that takes on global atrocities, injustices like Grenfell Tower and shows off a strong moral and philosophical compass. British and African influences are all there in the mix, but I think Slaugh has a sound all of his own and there is more meaning in these lyrics that you get on an entire NOW compilation. Oh, and there’s a cracking video too so it’s pretty much the complete package and, therefore, I’m hoping it will be a while until Slaugh becomes Dr Slaugh.
