This is the time of year when we should
be thinking of others and how we can help so it’s good to see rock’n’roll
royalty coming together to raise money for the mental health charity Mind. The
Planet Rock All Stars features members of the Darkness, Def Leppard, Judas
Priest, Terrorvision, The Offspring, Motorhead, Ugly Kid Joe and, well, Sir
Alice Cooper as well as a whole bunch of others. Together, and much greater
than the sum of their parts, the band take on the John Farnham classic ‘You’re
the Voice’ with epic results. I’d try to describe it but when you put that much
rock energy in to one track (a track that is renowned for stirring the soul and
pricking the hairs on the back of your neck), well, it defies description. It’s
just an experience and one that will make you ready to take on the world which
might just be what someone needs today.
