JERSKIN FENDRIX – SINGLE REVIEW

Jerskin Fendrix – Black Hair (Untitled

Release Date: Out Now

First things first, kudos to the parents of Jerskin Fendrix for picking that name out of the baby name book – here is a child who was destined for creative greatness. Second things second, Fendrix’s new single ‘Black Hair’ is a massive slice of surrealist creativity that will push some limits but also give you chills if you know what’s good for you. “Wake up in the morning feeling like Constance Wu, I’ve got lots of natural light in my room” sings Fendrix like a cross between Leonard Cohen and Baz Lurhrmann on Prozac. This deadpan delivery is then followed by some bonkers synth freak outs and the general vibe is that of early artificial intelligence creating music based on an algorithm that was built on data from a rush hour dual carriageway near Coventry. Not a party banger but if you want something fresh to put in your ears then I can’t recommend this highly enough.
