Mancunian duo Stereo Freeze sent
me a somewhat unassuming email which didn’t do their music any justice. Fortunately
for them, I am a curious kitten and gave this a listen. Luckily for me, the pair’s
new single ‘In Need You More Than Ever’ is an absolute banger with a 60s soul
vibe and all the swank and swagger of James Bond pretending to be Austin
Powers. Rasping vocals, groove laden melodies and the kind of Phil Spector
production values that most bands would kill for. The only current act I’ve heard
that comes close is Morrisey & Marshall but I think Stereo Freeze win the
battle for sheer size, ambition and, well, style. Big stuff.
