LAZYBONES – SINGLE REVIEW

Lazybones – Trash Talk (SaySomething
Lazybones - Trash Talk
Records)

Release Date: 9th October 2019

Brighton’s unerring ability to churn out excellent new bands is starting to make me twitch a little. I mean, seriously you guys, share it around a bit. Give Swindon a chance or throw Milton Keynes a bone, yeah? Lazybones is the latest band off the conveyor belt and the trio mean business with new single ‘Trash Talk’ which kicks hard from the get-go and doesn’t let up. Fuzzed up guitars, thumping drums and near-screamed vocals put you in mind of Sleigh Bells or Veruca Salt but there’s a more retro vibe here as well with the garage-punk energy coursing through every vein of this song. Going from 0-100mph in 30 seconds, this track has the swagger of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, the energy of Beachbuggy and the sass of Joan Jett which, when you think about it, is just about as good as rock’n’roll gets.
