‘52’ is a song about Brexit but
this is not your average agit-punk protest track. Oh no, London based Havvk are
an altogether more mellow affair, existing in the space between Cocteau Twins,
Radiohead and Kate Bush. Gentle, rippling guitars and vocals with a dream-like quality
combine to make a sound that is somewhat lighter than Shoegaze but still has a
heavy heart, much like this country they laughingly call the United Kingdom.
There is a divide, an open wound bleeding hate and vitriol in the UK right now
but I think if you were to apply this tune as an ointment four times a day then
it might just start to heal.
