DEARLY BELOVED – SINGLE REVIEW

Dearly Beloved – Close Encounters (Future
Dearly Beloved - Close Encounters
Shock Records)

Release Date: Out Now

Toronto duo Dearly Beloved have presented us with a double-edged banger here so watch yourself. On the one hand, ‘Close Encounters’, is an absolute assault on the senses with swirling guitars, piledriver drums and a vocal energy that puts me in mind of Sleigh Bells. This is punk-pop at the most brutal edge of things with the melodies definitely given consideration but power comes first. The other edge of the banger is the video which is, well, it’s compelling. It’s well worth a watch but I would seriously recommend not watching it work or in a public place unless you’re ready to answer some awkward questions.
