KING JANE – SINGLE REVIEW

King Jane – Gypsy Girl
King Jane - Gypsy Girl

Release Date: Out Now

This is two and a half minutes of moody gloriousness and I wanted to get that out upfront so you don’t slide by and miss this one out. Brooklyn quartet King Jane open ‘Gypsy Girl’ with a moody, chiming riff that is all Arcade Fire and the Maccabees before settling in to a gentle, indie-pop melody that is more like Squeeze meets Vampire Weekend. The switch in tone on this track mixed with the OMD-esque solo is simply divine and the Beach Boys vocal harmonies seal the deal. The real trick here is that in 150 seconds King Jane explore more ideas and take more unpredictable turns than most bands manage in a whole album. Kudos guys, kudos.
