“I didn’t mean to call you up out
of nowhere but nowhere is where I’ve been”. As opening lines go, that’s pretty
impressive and set to the dreamy, almost sombre melodies created by Yore it is
absolutely stunning. This is how the LA singer-songwriter starts new single ‘Desperate
Measures’ and it’s like sinking in to a much needed warm bath with the door
locked and your phone turned off. Yore’s voice is tender and fragile but with
sweetness that is delicious and the way he builds this track from simple
beginnings to a sweeping climax is beautiful in an effortlessly understated
kind of way. On Yore’s Facebook page his music is described as ‘a nostalgia for
what could’ve been’ and I think that’s pretty spot on if you ask me.
