Scottish upstarts Parliamo keep
reconfirming their place in my heart as one of the most essential and infectious
indie bands in the UK at the moment. New single ‘Youth’ is a 100mph romp that
deserves a sped up video of driving around Perth’s streets at nights causing
trouble. The guitars snarl and wail, the drums are relentless and the whole
vibe is just of a group of mates having fun with rock’n’roll. If you’re looking
for comparisons then you’ll want to look at very early Arctic Monkeys, Northern
Uproar, Cast and the more raggedy edges of Britpop (more bowl cuts, less eye
liner) but honestly, you’re better off just diving in and worrying about the
details later.
