I’m always trying to pick out
something different, something fresh for you lucky readers so I was pretty
excited to read the first few lines of press on this release from Nodey; “a
French-Vietnamese Hip-Hop don with a single about his travels in India”.
Tempting, right? ‘Krishna’ is the single in question and it is an intensely
disorientating experience. At some point this sounds like the soundtrack to a
bad trip Trainspotting: the Asian Years but at other points there is a definite
hint of the Streets in there too. The ambience within the tune isn’t something
you’d normally associate with Hip-Hop but it works perfectly and gives you the
impression of a melting pot of sounds, cultures and influences being brought up
to a tumultuous boil. Check out the video too – it matches the music perfectly
and has some really fresh images going on in it.
