This is my second experience of Kosovo-Albanian self-confessed diva Ilira and she doesn’t get any more forgiving. Ilira’s new single, ‘Diablo’, initially comes on like a Shakira or Ariana Grande track full of perky little guitar flicks and Latino beats (presumably inspired by guest artist Juan Magan). However, there’s a underlying darkness and self-doubt in here that flies directly in the face of the music which makes this all the more intriguing. Sure, there’s a slight Eurovision vibe to this but there’s also a sense that this could easily shift huge units on either side of the Atlantic given the right backing and airplay.
