London outfit Gold Baby have been
making steady progress in the outside lane of the Indie track race and new
single ‘500/1’ sees them pull up on the shoulder of the leading pack. The
gentle, whimsical verse is redolent of Best Coast, Belly or Lush but then the chorus
kicks in with more punch a la Veruca Salt, Weezer or Pixies – there are six
influences in there that should whet your appetite if nothing else. So, if fuzzy
guitars, sweet vocals and a swaying grunge energy are your thing then give Gold
Baby a try, you won’t regret it.
