NATALIE HOLMES – SINGLE REVIEW

Natalie Holmes – Plasterboard
Natalie Holmes - Plasterboard

Release Date: 3rd May 2019

Building materials don’t often make great songwriting material but that hasn’t stopped Westcountry singer-songwriter Natalie Holmes making a beautiful song with the title ‘Plasterboard’. The sweet, gentle vocals and electro melody are tinged with regret and sadness but there’s some sophistication here that brings the likes of Emma Blackery, Kimbra and Seaker to mind with the purposefully sparse arrangements and wilful changes of tempo and direction to keep you on your toes. I’m pretty sure there won’t be a whole album of building related metaphors but I’d be up for listening to it if that did exist – especially the one about asbestos.

Live Dates:

26th May – Sounds at the Pound Festival, Dymock
1st June – Centrala, Birmingham
14th July – Positive Images Festival, Coventry
