Despite a press-shot that looks
like the conjoined offspring of ZZ Top and Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Mountain
Head have struck on something special with new single ‘We Stole Your Head’. The
pulsing bass melody and clicking beat puts you in mind of the Black Keys or
Royal Blood but vocally this is more akin to the slick pop of Maroon 5 or
Bastille. As the song grows and layers of synths build up on top of the throbbing
bass notes, it’s hard to resist the 80s vibe mixed with the ultra-modern style –
it’s an intoxicating combination so may be the big hats are necessary….for some
reason.
