THE GOLDEN DREGS – SINGLE REVIEW

The Golden Dregs – Nobody Ever Got Rich (By
The Golden Dregs
Making People Sad)

Release Date: Out Now

Right, focus. This has been incredibly hard review to write for one particularly good reason – this tune is audio Absinthe. Cornish expats the Golden Dregs have relocated to London (the trendy bit) and are unleashing new single ‘Nobody Ever Got Rich (By Making People Sad)’ on an unsuspecting world. The luxuriously morose tune takes a voice like Nick Cave or Johnny Cash at the very end of his life, lays out on a noodly, late night piano line and some velvety strings for a bit of a trip. The trip is taken on an ornate, velvet lined gondola on an indoor river filled with Absinthe and captained by a world weary Willy Wonka. It is impossible not to get lost in the deep brown eyes of this song and I really wouldn’t recommend you try; resistance is futile so just let yourself gently slip under and I’ll see you in a few days.
