MANGOSEED – SINGLE REVIEW

Mangoseed – Still Believe
Mangoseed - Still Believe

Release Date: Out Now

London based reggae funk outfit Mangoseed take a direct line on the Windrush scandal with new single ‘Still Believe’ but instead of wallowing in anger and rage, they take a more positive approach. In conjunction with an excellent video showing the wonderful multiculturalism of London town (something I miss the most now that I live in Cornwall), this track takes you back to the days of Marley and his messages of using love to conquer all. The guitars scratch and jerk, organs are used perfectly and the vocals come through clearly without being forceful. However, it’s the rhythm section and particularly the percussion that takes the main plaudits here as they kick and rattle to keep the sombre melody moving in line with the messages of believing in love. As with all things in life, positivity can come from the hardest situations if you just have a little faith.
