The excellent Clue Records are
back with a new singing in the shape of London soloist Locals and the first
release is a ruddy delight. ‘Talkboy’ flies straight out of the traps and hares
around the track like a greyhound possessed with the scent of a rabbit. The drums
rattle, the guitars chug and the vocals feel like they were done in one take,
full of nervous energy and a hint of youthful arrogance. There are elements of
the Lemonheads, the Libertines, the Subways and early Jamie T about this so if
you’re looking for a new indie hero to fall in line behind then you can stop
looking, Locals is your man.
