2018 was rammed full of Swedish female
solo artists but 2019 has been relatively quiet on that front….until now. ‘Bye
Bye’ is the new single from Swede songstress Isa and it’s an assured, polished
slice of pop with some soulful undertones. This might sound like a sweet as
candy Carly Rae Jepson-esque tune to begin with, but this has some serious
sting in the tail, taking a leaf out of her compatriot Angie’s book. Isa has a
way of coolly delivering a line so that you don’t notice how sharply cutting it
is and, paired with the slickly produced pop melodies, that is a seriously
dangerous and powerful combination.
