Every now and again, an artist
comes along that ignores all the rules and blows you away with their freshness.
Duckwrth is the latest such artist and the American is someone worth listening
to. ‘Love is Like a Moshpit’ starts with a soulful, John Legend-esque piano
melody but the aggressive vocal joins in with all the charisma of Childish Gambino
giving this sub three-minute track a punky energy. The sombre melody is
scratched and shattered by the hip-hop beats and that repeated chorus line of “blah
blah blah blah blah love is like a moshpit” really burrows in to your head. I
feel like Duckwrth might have the energy, intellect and creativity to really
build a sound, a movement around him so just watch this space or, better still,
get in to the space and get involved.
