How New Zealand artist Theia isn’t
huge yet is beyond me. ‘Not Your Princess’ is a Taylor Swift sized slice of pop
with a chorus line of “I am not your princess, stay out of my business” that
could easily become the soundtrack for the #metoo movement. Loose beats, retro
electro melodies and a build that gives you actual chills are all but canapés
to the main course which finds Theia in strong, confident mood taking on the
patriarchy, hell, taking on the world. The fact that part of the melody also
sounds like it might have been lifted from an early Nintendo game just makes me
love this more – and that’s before you watch the sassy-pants video. The full
