Charlie Soul (aka Charlie Soulsby
to her mam) is only 14 years old but do not for one second lead you to
underestimating the talent this young lady has. Hailing from County Durham is
releasing her debut single ‘Obsessed’ and far from being teeny pop this is
sophisticated and considered alt-pop that has more than a little American
influence to it. The smooth melodies and Soul’s dusky, blissed out voice work
perfectly together to create something between Sade, Lana Del Rey and Pip Hall.
The message, however, is a classic teenage story of infatuation which I’m
pretty sure everyone can relate to so get this one on your ‘up and coming
talents’ playlists now.
