Reading outfit the Amazons have
been a bit of a hot ticket for a while now so this new single has been eagerly
anticipated and with good reason. The really, really good-looking quartet have
built a Frankenstein’s monster of a track on ‘Mother’ which throbs and emerges
from the gloom with glowing red eyes. Borrowing from the Queens of the Stone
Age and Royal Blood riff books, the Amazons layer on some slick pop melodies
and the kind of stadium filling swagger that only the Arctic Monkeys are
achieving on the British scene at the moment. Like I said, the Amazons are a
hot ticket and this tune might just be the one that sees that ticket finally
combust.
