For some inexplicable reason, my
expectations of this track were pretty low which is crazy considering the terrifying
consistency offered by the musical community in Canada. Luckily, Toronto’s Skye
Wallace is a fierce and rare talent who punches the hell out of ‘Coal In Your
Window’ with buzzsaw guitars blending the styles of Estrons, the Joy
Formidable, Charly Bliss, Veruca Salt and Breeders and the kind of desperate,
breathless vocals we’ve come to expect from Florence Welch and Anna Calvi.
There’s a great bounce and energy to this which, when matched the raw
musicianship makes for one hell of a ride…..without a seatbelt…..or doors.
