This latest release by superb DJ
Shy FX, ‘Rudeboy Lovesong’, is a great tune with an infectious rhythm and hypnotic
melody with a sense of love, loyalty and struggle at its heart. The duet vocals
of Seetie Irie and Cara Delevingne is not an obvious pairing, but it works as a
sweet and sour juxtaposition to match the stark black and white imagery in the
video. It is the video that really ramps up the intensity of this tune as
Delevingne and Irie desperately try to get back to each other with insurmountable
barriers constantly getting in the way like a romantic version of the cult film
Cube. I wouldn’t call this a party smasher but I love it nonetheless and the
video is in my top five for the year.
