Cardiff collective Codewalkers are
back with a new track which is great news, despite the press picture that makes
them look like a bunch of guys trying to intimidate a little kid off a
five-aside pitch. New single ‘Part of the Pride’ has their trademark reggae
bounce played out on a piano riff while the bass rolls and bubbles with a dub
style. There is an edge and bite to this that is becoming a trademark of the
Codewalkers sound, pitched somewhere in the vicinity of Tricky, Goldie, Roni Size
and Finley Quaye at their peak – I suppose Cardiff is only a bridge away from
Bristol….
