MOZES & THE FIRSTBORN – SINGLE REVIEW

Mozes & the Firstborn – Blow Up
Mozes & the Firstborn - Blow Up

Release Date: Out Now

I have been to Eindhoven, home of Mozes & the Firstborn, but all I can remember is being terrified by the shop assistant in a toy shop asking me (in Dutch) if I wanted a carrier bag. I was a child of nine. Anyway, that is irrelevant to this unless I can find a link between that experience and this slice of slacker indie-pop from the Netherlands based quartet. ‘Blow Up’ rolls in to view with a winning smile and the kind of hair that you only normally see in LA riding on a wave of rolling basslines and louche drums. Energy wise, this is somewhere between Vampire Weekend, the Lemonheads and the Stone Roses with the baggiest vibes and gang vocals in the chorus that are just too sweet to resist. So don’t.
