SIOBHAN MCCRUDDEN – SINGLE REVIEW

Siobhan McCrudden – Following You (Hungersleep Records/Integrity Publishing)
Siobhan McCrudden - Following You

Release Date: Out Now

Cardiff based Siobhan McCrudden honed her craft on the New York scene but new single ‘Following You’ certainly has a more Celtic feel than an urban edge. McCrudden’s voice has that ethereal quality that the likes of Tori Amos, Kate Bush and Sinead O’Connor made so popular but it’s the hypnotic undulation of the melody that makes this so addictive. A delicate, circular guitar line is nudged along by the bass line and soft rhythms like fresh water rolling effortlessly over moss-strewn boulders. This is an impressive piece of alt-folk that stands up to more than one listen as the different layers reveal themselves with each run through.
