What the world needs now is love, sweet love.
Failing that, Lusts have done a cracking cover of the Bee Gees’ classic
‘Stayin’ Alive’ which pretty fine. The fraternal duo of Andrew and James Stone
give the disco anthem a darker energy that could easily be featured on a moody
night time car advert showing a cool, stubbly dad picking his hot
daughter/wife/mistress up from a club. Musically, this is both lush and sparse
as the beats stay in the background and the vocals don’t overdo things but the
groove is still there and the New Order-esque guitars are Mancunian bliss.
