Geordie songstress Beth Macari is
back with the follow up to debut single ‘Clone’ and it is ambitious to say the
least. ‘Boy’ opens with lush strings ushering in something glamorous and
refined, paving the way for Macari’s pin-point perfect pop vocals to join the
party. This is an out-and-out love song with all the production values of a
Little Mix stadium filler but the beats of Rudimental and the heart of a
Eurovision winner (and, to be absolutely clear, Eurovision is a guilty pleasure
of mine). The main thing here, however, is that this is a great upbeat love
song performed with a fantastic voice and when you strip everything else away that’s
all that matters.
